PING-PONG BY NOISE

THE INTER-AGENCY PING-PONG SMASH

Terms & Conditions

Each agency may enter ONE team made up of THREE players plus ONE substitute/supporter - male or female and must be over eighteen - to play in a SINGLES tournament to be played at Noise in Glebe on 19.05.2011 & 26.05.2011 & 02.06.2011. All players must be named and complete the required entry form.

Each player MUST be either a full time member of the CREATIVE DEPARTMENT or TV PRODUCTION currently working at the named agency OR a freelance creative or TV producer having worked for the agency for at least a month prior to tournament start date. Business cards may be asked for. If a player is unable to attend during the tournament, a substitute may be made prior to the beginning of each round of heats.

All games will be played on a full size professional table tennis table using standard rackets and table tennis balls. All equipment will be supplied by Noise - however individuals may play with their own rackets if they wish.

The normal rules of table tennis will apply except in those circumstances outlined by the Tournament Director at the briefing. All games will be umpired by an official - their decision is final. Umpires have the right to disqualify a player or team for aggressive behaviour.

HEATS & QUARTER FINALS

19.05.11 & 26.05.11

A match shall consist of all THREE players on a team, playing ONE game against their opposing number on another team (example: Agency A #1 plays Agency B #1, Agency A #2 plays Agency B #2, Agency A #3 plays Agency B #3 and so on).

A game shall be won by the player first scoring 11 points.The right to choose the initial order of serving and ends shall be decided by 'rock-paper-scissors' and the winner may choose to serve or to start at a particular end. After each 2 points have been scored the receiving player shall become the serving player and so on until the end of the game.

The winner of each Inter-Agency match shall consist of the best of 3 games per team.

SEMI FINALS

Same as above - ie a game shall be won by the player first scoring 11 points UNLESS both players score 10 points, when the game shall be won by the first player subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points.

FINAL

Best of 3 games, won by the player first scoring 11 points UNLESS both players score 10 points, when the game shall be won by the first player subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points.

Full details of all scheduled matches and games will be released prior to the tournament start date. A list of official Table Tennis rules can be downloaded here. Noise reserve the right to change the rules and structure of the tournament prior to the first game.
